Principal, Policy and Innovation

Mark Frankel is the Principal of Policy and Innovation at Ecotope. He has been consulting on energy efficiency and sustainable design for over 30 years, which include hundreds of capital projects ranging from single- and multifamily to large commercial buildings, as well as portfolio strategies across North America. Mark has also been involved in a wide range of research projects and policy development focused on strategies to incorporate leading-edge building design outcomes into policy and program opportunities that magnify and proliferate best practice building performance.

Currently, he’s involved in national coalitions to decarbonize building systems, develop strategies for improved building/grid integration, and in the development of innovative codes and policies focused on building performance outcomes, decarbonization, and benchmarking. Mark has served on the boards of the USGBC, ILFI, Cascadia Green Building Council, and the Seattle 2030 District.
