Mechanical Engineer IV – Project Manager

 

Ecotope’s innovative design and engineering team is responsible for some of the most energy efficient, award-winning buildings in the Pacific Northwest.  We’re seeking a smart, collaborative, and experienced mechanical engineer/project manager to join our team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

    • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new multifamily, office, education, and retrofit building types
    • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
    • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit
    • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including vendors, architects, and contractors
    • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
    • Develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection
    • Delegate work to and review work by junior engineers and drafters
    • Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work
    • Perform site visits as needed to support design
    • Follow Ecotope design standards and procedures
    • Develop options for design direction, system selection, energy conservation, and cost savings strategies

Project Management

Foster Client Relationships and Create New Business Opportunities:

    • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals
    • Manage scope and write Add Service Requests, flag new opportunities with existing clients
    • Understand and support overall business strategy and goals

Plan and Monitor the Successful Execution and Delivery of Projects:

    • Prepare and update project workplans that establish budgets, timelines, and staffing
    • Ensure accurate project accounting and project health in coordination with Project Economics team
    • Strategically plan the execution of design tasks according to phase
    • Ensure project tracking and reporting in collaboration with Project Economics team
    • Engage in constructive client communication
    • Identify and escalate issues, risks, and concerns appropriately
    • Manage subconsultants
    • Engage in QA/QC processes to ensure quality deliverables
    • Coordinate project delivery and verify all contractual obligations are satisfied

 

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
    • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering
    • 2+ years of project management experience
    • Fluency with project management tools such as Wrike or Asana
    • Onsite construction experience
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel
    • Proficient with Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio
    • Extensive experience in 2D/3D AutoCAD and/or Revit
    • PE license
    • LEED accreditation desired
    • Ability to communicate respectfully, effectively, and clearly
    • Must be self-motivated and collaborative
