The Data Not Dogma (DND) conference was July 29-30 in Goldendale, WA. Started by Bruce Manclark in 2008 as an alternative to the big conferences and their focus on home performance marketing talks, DND’s goal is to share real-world data about houses and buildings. Due to its popularity the event has moved from Bruce’s house to Brooks State park and is catered by the Glass Onion. Says conference organizer Ben Hannas, the state park location, “brings the necessary and sufficient peaceful setting for looking at statistics all day long.”
Topics generally include billing data analysis, detailed metering study results, pre-post retrofit testing and results, lab and field data for new technologies, common statistical techniques, etc. This year Ecotope’s Jeffrey Uslan & Ben Larson presented on their in-house electric water kettle research.
