Newly Remodeled, High Efficiency Olympic High School

What We Did and How

Originally constructed in the 1970s, Olympic High School has modernized itself to prepare its students for an evolving world. The 300,000 SF building is laid out in three “pods” — which include classrooms, gymnasiums, common space, an auditorium, and a natatorium. The original library was remodeled to function as two science classrooms and a life-skills classroom. The central pod was fully demolished, and replaced with a brand new two-story space with new classrooms, common space, cafeteria space, and an auditorium. The southern pod includes a full envelope, lighting, and HVAC upgrade. Ecotope designed full mechanical and plumbing systems on a strict schedule to meet the forthcoming academic year. Our innovative design included:

    • Passive design principles
    • Dedicated outdoor air systems
    • Heat recovery ventilators

The Results

Olympic High School has since become one of the most energy efficient high schools in the Pacific Northwest.
